20.01.2009. was commemorative ceremony in the occasion of death anniversary of three Serbian dukes: Misic, Bojovic and Sturm. The Delegation of Association laid down wreaths of flowers.
12. December 2008. Branch of Association in Novi Sad organized lecture « 90th ANNIVERSARY OF LIBERATION OF SERBIA IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR”.
His holiness bishop Irinej was present on mentioned lecture and he became honored member of Branch Novi Sad.
16. November 2008. - The new branch of Association was founded in Novi Sad. For President was selected Prof. Dr Aleksandar Djurdjev and for General Secretary was selected Mr.Nikola Banjac.
Like every year, in November 2008. Delegation of the Association has visited Paris and attended the commemorative ceremonials due to Armistice signing in the WWI. During that stay Delegation has held commemoration to King Peter and Alexander and to die Serbian soldiers which were buried on military cemetery in Thiais. Participators of these events were representatives of French, Greek, British and Serbian associations. These associations are members of Union of allied countries in the WWI.
Among the French delegation were the descendants of great military leaders: grandson of General Guillaume, grandsons of Marshal D’Esperey and niece of General Tranié.
In the occasion of 90th anniversary of Armistice Association in cooperation with Memorial of Eastern front organized commemorative ceremonies in front of the Monument at the cemetery in Saint Génis Laval in Lyon.
There were present Serbian and French delegations, Serbian consul Mr. Ušćebrka in Lyon, deputy mayor of Lyon and representatives of Diaspora in Lyon.
In September 2008, Association organized commemorative ceremonies on Serbian and allied cemeteries and monuments in Bitola, Zeitinlik and Polikastro, in cooperation with other members of Union on the occasion of 90th Anniversary of penetration the Thessaloniki front.
Members of Memorial of Eastern front 1915-1918, of Association for preserving tradition of Serbian liberation wars until 1918 and of Union of Macedonian front from Greece, representatives of Serbian, Greek, French, Italian and British embassies were present on those ceremonies and also high authorities from mentioned countries and 30 cadets from Military Academy from Belgrade.
Words of ancestors and descendants are amalgamated mostly owing to one special kind of pilgrims of glory, gathered in Association for preserving tradition of Serbia liberation wars until 1918. In the last 38 years, they have done a lot for preservation and restoration of old monuments and building the new ones. Also, every year, members of association, along with the Serbian government, organize denotation to debarkation of Serbs on Corfu.
This year was no exception. The central co-memorial ceremony was held on Island Vido, nearby Corfu, in front of the mausoleum of Serbian warriors. Delegation of Serbian government represented by Minister of culture Mr. Vojislav Brajović, Military delegation of Serbia represented by vice admiral Mr. Jovan Grbavac, representative of President of Serbia Mr. Boris Tadić was ambassador of Serbia in Athens Mrs. Ljiljana Baćević, best students from schools in Belgrade, descendants and admirers of ancient warriors, as well as host representatives attended the ceremony. Island Vido was pronounced by Serbs as ‘Island of death’, because there was a hospital for diseased and exhausted Serbian soldiers who went through cavalry during the retreat over Albania in 1916. About 7 000 of them remained forever in ‘the blue tomb’.
Tribute was paid to those remained eternally on the bottom of ‘the blue tomb’. Wreaths of flowers from ship were set down to the sea. Their everlasting peace was shortly disturbed, just to get to know they won’t be forgotten.
After the Serbian house, pilgrimage was continued in Guvija, at a small dock on Corfu. It‘s place where 145 000 Serbian soldiers and 40 000 civilians were debarked after retreat over Albania in 1916.
Afterwards, pilgrims paid tribute to soldiers of the Drina division in front of their monument. Those soldiers died on Corfu from diseases and exhaustion. Monument was built by their war mates before they went to Salonika battlefield in April of 1918.
Also, delegations paid tribute in front of the monument of Janis Janulis, great friend of Serbian people, in village Agios Matheos.
